Season in Review
As the 2016/17 racing season draws to a close we reflect on a great season past.
Going through the results from the Radical series, for which we finished second overall with Russian driver Sergey Shalunov, it became apparent that the GulfSport SR3 was the only car on the gird to finish all twelve of the 45 minute races. This is not only a testament to Sergeys consistent driving but also to the team for preparing a car with a 100% reliability record.
GulfSport was again involved in all aspects of racing in the UAE this season. At the track running cars in 3 championships, suppling teams with equipment and support in the new UAE F4 series, 7 x T1 and T2 customers running in the Desert Challenge who had benefited from the GSR retail teams decisive action to supply parts quickly to accommodate new FIA rulings. Also supplying to the TRD 86 series, drifters and drag racers. Karters in the Rotax, IAMI and SWS series showcased GSR supplied helmets and suits etc.
The new custom painting service painted 22 helmets for customers all over the region. Custom Sparco suits were delivered as far a field as Tanzania (along with two custom helmets) and Formula Gulf Academy crowned its 6th champion, Alex Karkosik from Poland.
Looking to the immediate future, Formula Gulf Academy vice champion Omar Gazzaz will head off to Spain in a few weeks to test with Campos Racing at Valencia in one of their F3 cars. He will then contest races in the UK in the GulfSport run Dallara F309 in F3 Cup. Again, two cars will run in the UK Monoposto series as part of the Formula Gulf Academy UK program.
GulfSport welcomed Stilo's F1 Program Manager last week along with Sparco Key Accounts Manger to the Motorcity office, discussions were had on how to better serve our regional customers. So with the factory support of our major suppliers you will see us on hand at more and more events (on and off road) ensuring that our customers and their equipment is working to its best potential and any last minute needs are taken care of!
The revamped Gulf-Sport.com site is up and running with a new online store, shortly with online payment facilities to be active.
We will also be making an interesting announcement this summer that will appeal to many two wheel customers!
